We will be helping out at the Kenneth Young Resale Shop.
Besides being a fund-raiser, the shop serves the community by providing quality, affordable clothing and household items for those who need to seek a bargain, as well as those who have fun looking for unique items.
Finally, volunteers themselves benefit from their work at the shop as they find a way to give back to their community while making friends and working on a team.

This organization collects new and gently worn shoes to be shipped to adults and children all over the world, who do not have shoes and have had a natural diaster, such as the Tsunami. We will be cleaning shoes, sorting and boxing shoes.

They are working on a shipment of 11,000 pairs of shoes to send to Kenya, so they need a lot of help!
RECAP: We were at a laundromat washing the shoes in the machines the whole time. We washed about 40 loads of shoes. Some high school kids were at the laundromat with us, and other volunteers kept bringing more shoes to be washed. |

RECAP: The meal was Firecracker Casserole. We also made an apple pie and a pumpkin pie, which were a good idea because there was a lot of cookies already there from other organizations. |

Reading in the Enchanted Forest, which is on the left wall as you walk into the Children's Area. Pick up the books at the reference desk in the middle of the area.
Try to get there 5-10 minutes early to make sure you have enough time to get the books and get situated. Thanks! |

Today's theme was animals! There were approximately 10 kids in the forest enjoying each story we read. Some of our favorites were "The Long Nosed Pig", "Shark in the Park" and "The Lady Who Wasn't Scared of Anything". We had such a great time and so did all the kids. |
