SCARCE (School and Community Assistance for Recycling & Composting Education) is dedicated to educating people to conserve natural resources and energy, prevent pollution, reduce waste, recycle, and compost organic materials. Through that endeavor, they have established the Book Rescue Center and the Tools For Schools programs to rescue books and other educationally-related materials and provide them to those in need.

Dress: This is similar to a warehouse facility so dress in comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty. In cooler months you might want to wear a sweatshirt until you get moving and the facility warms up. |

We will be buying food for a needy family in Schaumburg Township. |

We will be shopping for a Thanksgiving basket to donate to a family in Schaumburg Township. We will purchase non-perishable items and a gift card for a turkey.
Some of the suggestions for the basket are:
- Sweet potatoes
- Boxed mashed potatoes
- Canned veggies
- Gift certificate for turkey
- stuffing mix
- etc.
The baskets need to be delivered to the township office by Thursday 11-15.
RECAP: We bought a large Rubbermaid container to use as the "basket". It looked too big, but it was actually the perfect size. We spent around $60 on the food and then got a $40 gift card. We bought a foil turkey roasting pan and pie plates; ingredients for green bean casserole and pumpkin pie; pickles and olives; canned sweet potatoes and boxed white potatoes; cranberry sauce; gravy packets; instant coffee, hot chocolate, sparkling cider, and apple juice; jello; Stove Top Stuffing. |

Come read with us at the Schaumburg Library. We'd like 2 volunteers for this project.
Reading in the Enchanted Forest, which is on the left wall as you walk into the Children's Area. Pick up the books at the reference desk in the middle of the area.
Try to get there 5-10 minutes early to make sure you have enough time to get the books and get situated. Thanks! |

It was great! We got there really early, so we got to start a little earlier. We had about 15 kids and they were all really interested in the "Moose" theme :) We finished off with a great thanksgiving book and wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving :) |

This will be with other Kiwanians too. WTTW is looking for 40-50 volunteers for this event. A dinner buffet will be provided for free, as well as a possible tour of the studio.
