Description |
The Northern Illinois Food Bank collects and distributes food to various organizations in the northwest suburbs that then distribute food to needy families. We perform a variety of tasks at the food bank, such as cleaning the outside of various food products prior to packaging them and sorting products into categories.
We'd love to have 10-15 volunteers for this project. We will be working in a warehouse environment, so dress appropriately - in layers when it is cold, long pants, and closed toed shoes (no sandals or heels) with a rubber sole.
If you've never volunteered before at the Northern Illinois Food Bank, please show up 15 minutes early so you can hear their presentation on the organization.

Description |
RECAP: Rudy, Rachel, Leslie, and Julie sorted the donated food and moved the sorted boxes into the cleaning area. Victoria and her friend Mary helped in the cleaning area to sanitize the donated food. It was a lot of work but we had fun! |

After the Food Bank project we will be having a social. We should be at the St. Charles Friday's around 12:15PM and depart at 1:15PM.
Mini Golf is set to start at 1:30PM. If you are not going to the Food Back Project, feel free to meet up with us @ Friday's or for mini golf.

This is a walk on the grounds of Mt Saint Joseph, a home for developmentally disabled women.
We will be helping the ladies do the walk and push wheelchairs if needed. Then we will help serve them lunch. |

We will be cooking lunch to be ready by 12:30PM.
Recap:
There were 25-30 people there. We had 2 grills (Larry's and Charlie's Mom's), which worked well. We cooked burgers (30ish), chicken (a bag full), and hot dogs (30ish). We had Boca Burgers as well, but no one ate them. We also had cheese (one pack), ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, and pickles (pickles not used). We used 2 bags of chips, most of a bag of grapes and a bag of cherries, and maybe 2-3 pineapples. Kathy also made some pasta salad. And we got 2 packages of cookies from Sam's for dessert. |
