2008-2009 Governor Gary Heath will be visiting Division 8!
We will have a lunch and then a Wii Bowling Tournament.
The cost is $15/person. Please sign-up BEFORE October 27th. Checks can be made out to "Kiwanis Division 8" and paid at the door.
Also, please indicate your food preference for a Subway lunch box.
Bread: White or Wheat
Meat: Turkey Breast, Ham, Roast Beef, or Veggie Delight

Recap
Food: We ordered Subway lunch boxes (6" sub, chips, cookie) and supplemented with potato salad and coleslaw, brownies, and pop. It worked out really well! Everyone got what they wanted (or at least got what they reserved for). We got 5 extra boxes in case anyone else showed up without an RSVP.
Decorations: We went with a fall theme. We got plastic table cloths and made centerpieces (candles and leaf wreaths). Members also donated fall decorations to go around the room.
Wii: We got 4 Wii's and 4 projectors. Each Wii needed an orange utility cord (for length) and a plug expander (multi-plug extention cord, power strip, etc). The expander needs to have 3-prong plugs since the projectors required them (the Wii has a 2-prong plug). A TV table was used to hold each system. The systems were in a row projecting on a blank wall. It worked pretty well! |

We will be shopping for a Thanksgiving basket to donate to a family in Schaumburg Township. We will purchase non-perishable items and a gift card for a turkey.
Some of the suggestions for the basket are:
- Sweet potatoes
- Boxed mashed potatoes
- Canned veggies
- Gift certificate for turkey
- stuffing mix
- etc. |

Description |
We assist in the Food Market of the People's Resource Center. The Food Market is where underpriviledged families receive groceries. It is set up like a grocery store and the clients can "shop" for their food. We sort food, stock shelves, and assist clients with selecting their items.
Please dress comfortably and casually. Jeans and gym shoes are fine. It can get a little cold in the food pantry in the winter, so please dress accordingly.
Please do not park in the parking lot directly outside of the building. Street parking is available.

Description |
Exact time TBD, but likely starting after 7PM.
The idea of this event is to have an adult type event in which folks can bring friends, relatives, co-workers, church members, next door neighbors, even past Circle K folks to meet the members of our club. I say adult, as we would like members with kids to have a nice have a evening out and let the kids have fun with a babysitter. This is a very no hasel way for us to introduce folks that may be interested in membership (even if they don't know it yet) once they find out how nice, funny or just great people that we all are.
We will ask that members bring a bottle of wine. We will put up a sign up on the site soon. Let's all try to bring different types of wines with 3 or so from different categories, so Kathy, Jenny, Leslie or a host of others don't all bring Reisling (Scheuing's call St. Michelle's Reisling plus one out of state surprise).
