If you cannot arrive right at 4pm that is OK - volunteers can show up as late as 5:30pm.
Charlie showed up to help. They were much more organized this year, and we were done by 6pm -- even though many people didn't show up due to the weather. |

We will help the Head Start Kids with their Christmas shopping at a local Wal-Mart. Please try to make it there on time, it's first come, first serve.

- Ages 12 years and older. High school community service certificates available.
- Assist WACO in taking needy preschool-aged children Christmas shopping for themselves and family members.
- The children live in Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Mt. Prospect, Schaumburg and other surrounding northwest suburbs.
- Volunteers must be at Walmart between 7:00 am and 7:30 am to check-in. |

Description |
We took the kids around shopping. There were more organized this year. They had many more wrappers, so it was much for efficient. We also had a mini-social at Steak-n-Shake afterwards. |

We helped Palatine with the food. There wasn't much to do, but it was fun to visit nonetheless. There wasn't a pinata this year. :( |

Reading in the Enchanted Forest, which is on the left wall as you walk into the Children's Area. Pick up the books at the reference desk in the middle of the area.
Try to get there 5-10 minutes early to make sure you have enough time to get the books and get situated. Thanks! |

This year we will be carolling in the Special Care Unit. We will meet at the Nurse E Staion.
We sang for a half hour in a meeting room for about 20 residents. We then sang for 15 minutes by the nurse's station for some of the residents sitting out there. Next year, it might be good to have music. |

We will be carolling at the Heritage Retirement Community. This event is done with the Des Plaines Kiwanis. |

We sang many traditional Christmas songs with the Des Plaines Kiwanis, which had a really good turnout (around 15 people). We were also accompanied by the piano playing of one of the residents. |
