Event Description |
We help out at the Barrington 4th of July Festival. The Barrington Kiwanis runs the Bratwurst Tent the first night of the festival. And if we help out we get a portion of the proceeds based on how many people we have there!
The Festival opens at Noon and runs until 11PM, with cleanup usually done within an hour. The mostly need us starting at 4PM, with the peak being at 8PM.
Free parking is available around the event, including John Peter Curielli's office parking lot (adjacent to the event).

We are going to work from 3-7. We need to remember to sign in and out so that eKiwanis gets credit for our hours.

Event Name | Circle K / CK Alumni Summer Social |

We will be joining the I-I Circle K and the I-I Circle K Alumni Association for a fun-filled social in the summer. Come one, come all! |

The Circle K'ers will be helping to finish up a cabin at the camp. We will be providing dinner when they are done.
Note: Time may change. Tentative schedule is 5:00PM: Start cooking 6:30PM: Serve dinner
Dinner will be the usual picnic food (grilled stuff, munchies, drinks, etc)
Event Recap: We had burgers (1.5 packs used), hot dogs (half a big pack), Chicken (most of a big bag), Fruit (grapes - 1 lb; cherries - 1 lb; mini carrots - 2 lb, almost all used; jarred pineapple - most of jar used), chips (potato and Doritos, both half used), Sam's potato salad (about 1/3 eaten), Sam's coleslaw (about 1/4 eaten), pasta salad (half eaten), 2 big cans of beans (maybe 1/2 to a full can used), cookies (2 boxes, both about half eaten), 4 12 packs (not much used), 2 packs of water (1 used), and lemonade (not that much drunk).
Suite supplies needed: Serving spoons, ziplock bags
Next year, bring backup lighter fluid and a can opener, buy half as many buns as you think you need, and remember the fire extinguisher! |

We will be in the upstairs section. We can order the food in advance if you'd like. Please say in your sign-up if you like pizza and what kind you perfer.
Remember, we'll be having at service project at 6:30 PM before the meeting. It will be shopping at Wal-Mart across the street for school supplies for low-income families.

Event Name | Special Olympics - Softball |

Helping at the Special Olympics Softball Tournament. They have 19 teams signed up. Sign up and indicate the job and shift you are interested in. Julie will contact the coordinator and she will send job confirmation and more information after July 20th. Please note if you have Softball experience in keeping scorebook or umpiring.
VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION: Check in volunteers as they arrive, pass out t-shirts and information. (7:30 am – 12:30 and/or 12:30 -5:30)
TEAM REGISTRATION: Check in teams as they arrive, pass out coaches’ packets and information. (8:00 am- 1:00 and/or 1:00- 5:00 pm)
LUNCH/HOSPITALITY: Set up clean up lunch area, help distribute lunches to athletes, volunteers and coaches. Oversee the hospitality area for officials. (10:30 am- 2 pm)
SCORER: Keep official scorebook, including individual statistics and running score. (8:00 am- 1:30, 1:30- 6:30)
TOURNAMENT CENTRAL: Staff the information table and be responsible for making sure that game scores, score sheets and Field volunteers are set. Keep tournament brackets up to date and answer questions. (8:00 am-1pm, 1:00-6pm)
FIELD SUPERVISOR: Oversee all operations on field. Make sure teams and all officials are present and ready at assigned game times. Report scores and take score sheets to Tournament Central. (8:00 am-1pm, 1:00-6pm)
AWARDS: Organize and present awards to teams. (12:30- 6:30pm)
MEDICAL: Staff the first Aid tent and deliver first aid when needed. Know and carry out procedure for emergencies. First aid /medical experience necessary.
UMPIRE: Plate and base umpires needed. Experience necessary. Special Olympics rules will be sent out prior to the tournament. |
