Each year School District 54 adopts a needy family. We shop for gifts to give to this family for Christmas. |

We will also be shopping for our WINGS holiday gifts. Following the shopping we will go have dinner at a local restaurant. Feel free to join in the shopping!
RECAP: We shopped for a family with 2 parents and 4 children. For the 5-year old girl we bought 2 outfits, pajamas, a Barbie, and some other toys. For the 7-year old boy we bought pants, shirts, pajamas, a remote controlled car, and some other toys. For the 10-year old boy we bought pants, shirts, pajamas, Legos, Sorry game, and some other toys. For the 15-year old boy we bought a Best Buy gift card and Old Navy gift card. For the parents we bought a Wal-Mart gift card. |

We will help the Head Start Kids with their Christmas shopping at a local Wal-Mart. Please try to make it there on time, it's first come, first serve.

Notes
- Ages 12 years and older. High school community service certificates available.
- Assist WACO in taking needy preschool-aged children Christmas shopping for themselves and family members.
- The children live in Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Mt. Prospect, Schaumburg and other surrounding northwest suburbs.
- Volunteers must be at Walmart between 7:00 am and 7:30 am to check-in. |

Description |
RECAP: We arrived at 8 AM. The line to wait for a child was very long. There were more volunteers than children, so we were not assigned children. In the future, we need to arrive very early to ensure we are able to receive a child. |

The Harbour Shelter provides temporary shelter and care for female adolescents in suburban Cook County. They provide counseling for young women who are experiencing a personal and/or family crisis and are unable to continue in their current environment. |

This is a project with the Park Ridge Morning Club. They are sponsoring a Christmas Party for the residents at the shelter. They are looking for approximately 4 volunteers to help them out with this project. |

We will be "manning" the phones when people call the studio to make a donation during one of the scheduled programs. |

This will be with other Kiwanians too. WTTW is looking for 40-50 volunteers for this event. A dinner buffet will be provided for free, as well as a possible tour of the studio. There will be yellow Kiwanis shirts to wear over your regular clothes. Please dress warmly, as the studio is kept very cool. SIGN UP BEFORE NOVEMBER 30TH! |

Reading in the Enchanted Forest, which is on the left wall as you walk into the Children's Area. Pick up the books at the reference desk in the middle of the area.
Try to get there 5-10 minutes early to make sure you have enough time to get the books and get situated. Thanks! |

Description |
There were about a dozen kids. Lots more appeared out of nowhere when we sang "Frosty the Snowmen", and then disappeared again. Go figure. The theme was snow, snowmen, and Christmas (some Hannukah books too, but we didn't get to those). |

The Rotary and other organizations put Christmas food baskets and toys for kids together and deliver them to over 1,000 families in Woodstock/McHenry County area. They need volunteers to deliver the baskets to peoples homes. |
