| Additional Description | We will also have a brief meeting instead of an in-person on March 12th. Here is the agenda: eKiwanis Meeting Saturday, March 15, 2008 At Membership Drive I. Past Service 3/8 (Sat) 12:30 to 6:00 P.M. – PADS Warming Center—St. Luke’s Church in Downers Grove We prepared, cooked, and served a taco meal to homeless people. The people were thrilled and ate well! Contact: Julie Attended: Julie, Rachel, and 4 people from APO who found us through Volunteer Match 3/15 (Sat) 11:00 to 11:30 A.M. – Reading at Schaumburg Library We read the books provided to children in the “Enchanted Forest.” This week’s theme was “homes.” Contact: Leslie Attended: Leslie and her mom II. Upcoming Service 4/5 (Sat) 9:00 to 12:00 noon – Kenneth Young Resale Store--Schaumburg We will help organize and stock the resale shop. All proceeds earned by the resale store go to Kenneth Young Mental Health Center in Elk Grove Village. The resale shop is located on Roselle Road, by Wise Road. This will count as the “Kiwanis One Day” activity. Contact: Michelle Signed up: Julie 4/19 (Sat) 11:00 to 11:30 A.M. – Reading at Schaumburg Library We will read the books provided to children in the “Enchanted Forest.” Contact: Leslie Signed up: No one yet. **Look for more upcoming service projects from the service committee in the near future. III. Fundraising **Please mark your calendars for September 26th and 27th to help with Peanut Day. We make the most money on Friday, so if it is at all possible for you to take time off work on that Friday, we would greatly appreciate it!! IV. Past Meetings and Events 2/29 (Fri.) Evening – Hospitality Suite at Circle K’s District Convention in Oakbrook Had a hospitality suite with snacks for Circle K’ers and alumni. Attended: Charlie, Jerry, Kathy, and Dan 2/29 (Fri.) 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. – Mt. Prospect’s Kiwanis Club Spaghetti Dinner Justin and Emily attended. 3/5 (Wed.) 6:00 P.M. – Division 8 Mid-Winter Conference Had a great showing of our club members at this event!! There were 13 of us: Kim, Julie, Leslie, Charlie, Michelle, Laura, Jenny, Dan, Jerry, Kathy, Denise, Rudy, and Kristin! CONGRATS to Kathy for winning the well-deserved Amador Award and to Jerry for winning the nomination/election to be Lt. Governor of Division 8 Kiwanis in 2008-2009. V. Upcoming Meetings and Events 3/19 (Wed.) 7:30 P.M. – Board Meeting In-person or on chat? 3/26 (Wed.) 8:00 P.M. – Regular Chat Meeting 4/2(Wed.) 6:30 P.M. – Divisional Council Meeting 4/6 (Sun.) Ups for Downs Play Performance If you are interested in seeing “High School Musical” performed by children with disabilities, please contact Leslie. The play will be performed in Palatine. In the near future: 4/20 (Sun.) 12:30 to 4:00 P.M. – Bowl-a-Thon for Spastics in Palatine 5/15 (Thur.) 7:30 P.M. – IN-PERSON MEETING AT THE SCHAUMBURG LIBRARY (ELECTIONS) *Note the date change!! We could not get the room for Wednesday! 6/26 – 6/29 – Kiwanis International Convention in Orlando, Florida Jerry and Kathy are going. Early bird registration ends on April 25th!! VI.
