Description |
Mothers of a child under one year of age or expectant mothers who are at least seven months pregnant can come to Breakfast with Baby at The Salvation Army in Des Plaines. Once a month they are served a hot breakfast, receive encouragement from the Bible and from conversations with volunteers. They form friendships with each other while eating together and talking about their kids. But most importantly, they receive a free package of diapers and baby wipes for each eligible child.
Donations of diapers, wipes, gently-used or new clothing, books, toys, and other large baby items such as strollers, cribs, exersaucers, bouncy seats, etc. are needed to aid these families each month.
Volunteers are needed to help sort the baby items, and to help set up the "store" once a month. |

Description |
We assist in the Food Market of the People's Resource Center. The Food Market is where clients receive groceries. It is set up like a grocery store and the clients can "shop" for their food. We sort food, stock shelves, and assist clients with selecting their items.
Requirements:
You are 13+ yrs old
You can stand for 3 hours and lift 25lbs (3gal of water)
You are willing and able to help where needed in the pantry each time you volunteer
You enjoy working both indoors and outdoors
Please dress comfortably and casually. Jeans and gym shoes are fine. It can get a little cold in the food pantry in the winter, so please dress accordingly.
Please do not park in the parking lot directly outside of the building. Street parking is available.

During Covid-19, volunteers pre-pack bags of groceries, unpack and stock items, and place groceries in clients’ vehicles. Clients do not enter the "store."
We have 2 spots reserved. I need to give them names and email addresses so volunteers can sign volunteer agreement before serving. |

Come join the Bloomingdale Roselle club for a tasting at Pollyanna Brewing Company. There will be Pollyanna Brewing Spirits and Beer, Lynfred Winery Wines, Chocolate Inspirations paired chocolates, Aunt Tina's Sound Bites and featuring live music by Jeff Dewbray. Come thirsty, Come Hungry!
