We will be helping out at the Kenneth Young Resale Shop.
Besides being a fund-raiser, the shop serves the community by providing quality, affordable clothing and household items for those who need to seek a bargain, as well as those who have fun looking for unique items.
Finally, volunteers themselves benefit from their work at the shop as they find a way to give back to their community while making friends and working on a team.
Here's what our customers say sets us apart from the rest: - lowest prices - prettiest store - we're so darn nice!
Please support us by donating items for resale, volunteering in the shop, and/or becoming a regular customer. There's something new every day!
We will be helping them reorganize (sorting, rearranging and being creative!).
We assist in the Food Market of the People's Resource Center. The Food Market is where underpriviledged families receive groceries. It is set up like a grocery store and the clients can "shop" for their food. We sort food, stock shelves, and assist clients with selecting their items.
Please dress comfortably and casually. Jeans and gym shoes are fine. It can get a little cold in the food pantry in the winter, so please dress accordingly.
Please do not park in the parking lot directly outside of the building. Street parking is available.
We brought the canned food we had collected at the Membership Food Drive. Also, we used $50 from the Service Committee budget to donate produce - 8 heads of lettuce, 8 lbs of bananas, 9 3lb bags of apples, and 6 5lb bags of potatoes.
This is an event to recognize volunteers, such as ourselves, for all our support to Friendship Village.
Business Casual dress required (no jeans!)
The Volunteer Services Department requests the honor of your presence at the Annual Volunteer Recognition Party to celebrate and honor our cherised 2005 Volunteers and their valuable contirbutions in service to Friendship Village of Schaumburg.
eKiwanis will be receiving a plaque, so please come if you can!
