This is an event put on by the American Cancer Society to honor cancer survivors. It is a 12 hour walk with teams of 8-15 person teams. It is a great time and everyone should come!
Setup is at 4PM, the relay starts at 6PM.
The club will pay the team entry fee and then we collect pledges and donations on our own. We need 10-12 people for this event.
You do not have to stay for the entire time, although it is so much fun you will probably want to! Come anytime you can during the 12 hours. Please indicate when you sign up approximately when you will be there.
You may also purchase luminaries to honor cancel survivors or in memory of someone with cancer. The cost for this is $10.00 per luminary. Contact Leslie if you'd like to purchase one.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS: Fun, but tiring! ACS raised over $200,000! The teams who raised a lot of money were recognized. It was cool this year because the “Hope” luminaries changed to “Cure!”
Help us pack food boxes for people afflicted with HIV. Formerly known as HIVCO.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS: Charlie donated 20 boxes of peanuts to them! They are having a BBQ at Cheeseburger in Paradise on July 5th and we are invited. Sign up on our website, if you are interested in going.
We help out at the Barrington 4th of July Festival. The Barrington Kiwanis runs the Bratwurst Tent the first night of the festival. And if we help out we get a portion of the proceeds based on how many people we have there!
The Festival opens at Noon and runs until 11PM, with cleanup usually done within an hour. The mostly need us starting at 4PM, with the peak being at 8PM.
Free parking is available around the event, including John Peter Curielli's office parking lot (adjacent to the event).
Please sign up for whatever hours you can commit to.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS: Laura attended. It was a fun time.
